My Little Avene Family

Happy Monday lovelies! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Today I shall be talking about my favourite Avene products that I have tried! I have always been a big fan of Avene products ever since I was a teenager with terrible acne. After being prescribed every acne cream under the sun to help, Avene products were the only thing that were able to calm and soothe my super dry, inflamed skin. Ever since I became addicted to my first Avene love, I have slowly formed my little Avene family as seen below:

I distinctly remember my mom coming home with the Avene Thermal Spring Water for me and it being such a life changing product that I still use it today. It is such a wonderful spray that softens and soothes your skin both before and after makeup application and is also great at keeping oily skin at bay while also keeping it hydrated. It is perfect for after a day in the sun when your skin is super dry and in need of a refreshing boost or at night after you wash your face and want to refresh your skin before applying your night creams. It distributes a very fine spray that is not overwhelming as it distributes evenly all over your face and which also makes it the perfect morning pick-me-up that dries very quickly which is great when you’re rushing around in the morning. I also love it for non-makeup days because I find it really helps sooth and calm down any redness I may be experiencing which is always amazing.

Next up we have the Avene Cleanance Cleansing Water for “oily, blemish-prone skin” which is recent discovery of mine as, to be perfectly honest, I wanted to save time by not having to wash my face in the morning with water and cleanser and a towel and the whole routine while still ensuring I properly cleansed my skin. I had heard great things about this lovely product and decided to give it a test! If you know me at all you know I loooove a good cleansing water and I must say that since using this product every morning my skin has never looked better. This cleansing water has never once irritated my skin or caused me to break out and also helps keep my shine at bay which is amazing since I am ALWAYS shiny. I also love how you can also actually see the dirt and makeup coming off of your face every time you use this product which is always a really satisfying feeling 🙂

Since I am always shiny due to my oily skin, I am forever hunting down mattefying products that will help with my shine but that won’t clog my pores or dry out my sensitive skin. While looking for a new morning moisturizer I stumbled upon the Avene Clearance MAT Mattifying Emulision Gel which fits all of my requirements exactly! Its a very thin gel that is perfect in the morning after cleansing and toning your face as it brings your skin to life while keeping any shine down due to its mattifying properties. I was a tad concerned that, because it was mattifying, that it may be drying but I actually found it to be very moisturizing without being too heavy which is great for the summer heat and also great for under your daily sunccreen.

And finally the newest addition to my ever growing favourite fam jam has is the Avene Clean AC Cream. I purchased this little gem in a panic because lately with how hot it has been in Toronto, I am constantly either far too hot at night or far too cold because of my bedroom air conditioner and because of this my skin has been insanely dry these past few weeks. I tried all of the creams I had in my beauty stash including my heaviest winter moisturizers and nothing seemed to be able to provide anything more than a fix for a day or two.

Eventually I was so frustrated that I ran down to Shoppers Drug Mart on my lunch and, after dramatically explaining my current skin situation, left with this cream. As the front of the tube states, this cream is “hydrating and soothing” and is specifically made to be used “adjunctive to acne treatments” which is what the beauty expert told me at Shoppers. She said that the “AC” on the front of the product means that the cream is supposed to be used for those who are currently on the acne medication Acutane as that medication is known to be particularly drying for one’s skin.

After hearing that I knew this had to be the product I needed because I figured if this didn’t work for me nothing would and  thankfully this was the exact product I needed! I have been using it twice a day for about a week now in place of my usual morning and night time moisturizers and my skin is completely back to normal and even appears more supple than usual. If you are having any dry skin issues that are being stubborn and just won’t seem to go away, you need to try this product and I promise it will return your skin to normal again in no time 🙂

What other Avene products shall I try? Has anyone tried any of these products and loved them as well?

XO

  1. Nice products, wish they were cheaper here in the Philippines 🙂 They look like the perfect partner for clear skin… I’m like you, always oily and I’m acne prone. Only thing that worked for me is simple facial wash, water based moisturizer/sunscreen and this medicine callled “Epiduo” which cleared my skin of those big pimples from hormones/gluten allergies, after using for 3 months straight
