Toronto Picture Of The Week

Yorkville Neighbourhood

One of the last summer sunsets that we will have before autumn arrives! I love all of the four seasons that we experience here in Toronto but for some reason nothing beats a beautiful summer sunset that looks like it has been painted on the sky ❤

This photo was taken in Toronto’s Yorkville Neighbourhood which home to Toronto’s most upscale stores, fancy restaurants and luxury real estate. This neighbourhood also offers fantastic art galleries, charming coffee shops and wonderful parks which are ideal for people watching or just resting after a day of shopping. Yorkville, according to the area’s website, was “founded in 1830 by entrepreneur Joseph Bloor (after whom Bloor Street, one of Toronto’s main thoroughfares, is named)” and soon became “the breeding ground for some of Canada’s most noted musical talents, including Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot, as well as then-underground literary figures such as Margaret Atwood, Gwendolyn MacEwen and Dennis Lee”.

Today, Yorkville is the perfect place to wander around at any time of the year as the streets are so pretty with gorgeous white lights sprinkled throughout the greenery in the summer, perfect holiday decorations throughout the year and amazing architecture that is mixed between the old and the new. I highly recommend talking a stroll through this neighbourhood if you visit Toronto as there are also many events held here such as the movie premieres and celebrity parties during Toronto’s International Film Festival (TIFF), the Yorkville Exotic Car Show, and Ice Fest in the winter months. Yorkville has so much to offer everyone and is definitely one of my favourite areas in Toronto 😀

  1. Toronto will always be one of my favourite cities. I’ve only ever seen it in Summer though – dying to get back there for Fall and Winter! 🙂

      1. I wish I could take a trip, but my tot is still little. I’m not sure how long he could remain in his car seat. Lol. I have to try a shorter trip before I make a long one. I may go to the coast before the end of the year. 😊

      1. Oh wonderful! I used to work in Scarborough at UTSC for a couple summers and found it to be so pretty! I currently live in the downtown core around the Annex 🙂 xx
