I’m using the term ‘distressed’ here because in reality these products are just used so much that they don’t even look like themselves anymore. Most of them falling apart because I either take them everywhere with me or I use them every single day to the point that they have been dropped at least once, if not several thousand times, during our early mornings / late nights together. And yet, despite their appearance and overall lack of initial function, I love them so much that I still loyally use them all. ❤
I purchased this palette on a whim after I began watching Carli’s YouTube channel and fell in love with her flawless makeup. The colours have amazing pigmentation and totally exceeded my expectations regarding how long they would last throughout the day. I find myself always reaching for a least one eye shadow shade every morning and the highlighters are absolutely stunning especially when applied with a damp Beauty Blender. I love how all of the shades are so easy to mix and match to create tons of different looks as well. Clearly this palette and I have been through a lot together and even though she is in rough shape, I still rely on her like crazy. I can no longer find a link to this specific palette but Carli does have a new deluxe palette that looks quite similar and absolutely gorgeous.
Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore
This blush is the BEST. If you have never tried a Milani blush before you need to go out and purchase one right now because it will change your life. They have incredible shades with most amazing pigmentation that stays put all day and they last forever since you need so little to make your cheekbones look insane and your skin radiant. Plus, they are super inexpensive and can be found at most drugstores which is a huge plus for girls like me on a budget. I honestly use it every single day and take it with me everywhere to the point where the plastic top has broken and the name on the bottom has totally worn off. To the honest, I have no idea what shade this is anymore (I think it’s Berry Amore?) but all of their shades are amazing so please, please, please go buy one if you haven’t already. You can thank me later 😉
Side note: I know a lot of people are nervous to try these blushes because of how sparkly they look. However, once the blush is applied, the gold streaks found throughout the blush only make your skin look luminous and healthy – not sparkly. I know from the pictures they looked packed full of sparkles but trust me when I say that your skin will not look like that once the blush is applied ❤ .
NYX Eyeshadow in Over The Taupe
Another little gem where the lid has completely fallen apart due to over usage. I actually bought this eyeshadow for a wedding I was attending and soon realized that it made for a wonderful eyebrow powder. I always find myself coming back to this little guy no matter how many other eyebrow products I use. I apply it with a small, angled brush and it makes my eyebrows look really full and thick yet really natural at the same time. I find that a little bit goes along way so I like to apply a tiny bit and then brush it through with a spoolie to distribute the product evenly. NYX is one of my favourite drugstore brands and I know this product will always be in my makeup bag especially since its multipurpose.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz Spoolie
How sad does this look? Lol guys, everytime I buy a ABH Eyebrow Brow Whiz it breaks! Which sucks because it’s such a good product! So I figured that I would just start carrying the spoolie around since it’s perfect for touch ups throughout the day and it just works really well. I have now been through three of these pencils but this little cutie is staying with me since I can use it with other brow products as well and it takes up no room in my makeup bag. Verdict is still out if this is creative or just desperate. 😊
Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Not Just Nudes
I used to be OBSESSED with this eye palette when I was in university and just getting into the beauty game. It’s buttery, creamy and perfect when you just want a sheer sweep of colour. I still love these eye creams and use them quite frequently as you can tell by the picture. They look so natural and they look especially amazing with a tan in the summer because they give your eyelids that wet, glossy sun-kissed look. The palette is such a great size and one that I, clearly, take everywhere with me.
Oh Jen Atkin– forever my Girl Boss inspiration and hair goddess. I’m sure you guys are sick of hearing about this brand but there’s obviously a reason people can’t stop taking about it. It’s just that good. I wrote a post about how much I love/ need this shampoo in my life and my feelings haven’t changed a bit. It is one of the only volumizing shampoos I have found that actually WORKS and makes my hair super shiny and soft. Plus I love that it is made with no parabens, sulfates or phthalates which is pretty much a god sent for your hair especially for us fine haired girls. The bottle looks a little bit dicey but the product is still an absolute dream.
What ‘distressed’ beauty products do you have? Do you think my spoolie trick is creative or desperate? 😀
Definitely creative; like your blog!
